Martini´s History

In 1931, the developing spirit of the yang man, Agostinho Martini Neto made the home-made deserts production, that he learnt with his mother, to become a commercial success in his home-town, Piracicaba in São Paulo state. At age of 16, Agostinho mobilised his family to produce home-made deserts. At home, Mr. Neguinho, as he is known, and his mother started making Pumpkin Candy, Potato Candy and the famous Coconut Candy. He himself use to sell it by foot in a couple of basket. It was the beginning of a tradition that started to make part of the city's life. In 1935, Mr. Neguinho married Joana Rocha, which started to make wedding cakes. Always with him, she had an important part in this long journey. Soon afterwards, with the acquisition of a cart, the deserts became present in many local celebration. Weddings and parties were dilatedly enhanced with sweets and cakes of Martini's family, wich worked daily to sweeten people's life and supply with promptness the countless orders. In 1938 the first truck, a Chevrolet 1928, was bought and in April 19th 1940 the production became industrial with the creation of the factory "Doces e Conservas Martini Ltda." The desire to keep growing allied with concern in guarantee a fully quality in all products and the quickness on distribution placed Doces Martini in a prominent place nationwide. During the Second World War and afterwards during part of the military dictatorship in Brazil, Doces Martini faced bitter moments of rationing but with dedication and perseverance succeeded through out all crises. After the rationing period, in the early 70's, the range of products was modified. The production of cakes was replaced for a ample variety of jams and compotes totalising over 50 different products between coconfectionery compotes and jams. Keeping the production of Jams and Compotes with home-made flavour as it was is the pride and tradition of Doces Martini . Nowadays the company, in the fourth generation, has its products distributed to restaurants, industrial restaurants, hotels markets, supermarkets, baker's shops and directly to costumers nationally and internationally. The secret of its success is in the following formulae: - Over 70 years of dedication and hard work; - Fresh fruits and sugar, mixed with lots of love and no addiction of preservative or colouring; All of it makes the history of this industry A SWEET TRADITION.
